Monarto Safari Park

PlayQuip was engaged to design and build a playspace to complete the new Elephants of Asia Exhibit at Monarto Safari Park. Positioned right by the elephants this space has been thoughtfully designed to capture the spirit of adventure, exploration, and as an extension of the elephant experience itself.

Inspired by the surrounding environment, this safari themed multi level unit utilises natural and attractive colours to compliment the area. Climbing and balancing items were used to aid in building strength and  agility, encouraging movement and self confidence. An exciting ravine bridge adds to the thrill. A double slide, a fireman pole, and a bannister slide provide sensory benefit, developing spatial awareness and risk assessment skills. In keeping with the theme a zoo abacus panel and elephant rocker allow younger children to assume the role of elephant keeper for the day. An accessible carousel was installed allowing all children to spin, stimulating the vestibular system promoting balance and inducing joy equally. Timber roofing, and coloured panels harmoniously compliment the colourful and durable steel elements bringing nature and play together. The playground is underneath custom silhouetted shades designed and built by Cover All Shades Australia allowing the playground to be enjoyed throughout the year.

While elephants roam and play nearby, young visitors can enjoy their own safari adventure as caregivers sit on the shaded benches. This is an inspiring space we are all so proud of creating, its a space where curiosity, play, and amazing wildlife come together to create lasting memories for families of all ages.
